Well, we finally did it! We finally transitioned Olivia from her crib to her toddler bed, and I’ve got to say it was pretty seamless! I was a bit hesitant to move her to the toddler bed from all that I was reading about her possibly not sleeping through the night, constantly climbing in our bed and us having to sleep on the floor next to her bed to make the transition easier. But, we didn’t have to do any of that! She’s been sleeping in her bed every night with no protests!
When Olivia recently started climbing out of her crib, I knew it was time to make the change. I remember sitting at my desk getting some work done while she took a nap, when I heard her bedroom door open. I put her back in her crib, and told her to show me how she got out of her bed. Then, the above happened haha.
I’m hoping this will help make potty training easier, as she’s been protesting it.
I’m so glad we invested in a convertible crib before Olivia was born. We have the Babyletto Hudson in white, and it’s just as cute as a toddler bed as a crib! Excellent quality, no chipped paint and has survived several moves with only a few dings. It took me an hour to remove the crib rail and add the conversion kit (probably would’ve been even less time if Gary helped me!)
I highly recommend a convertible crib if you’re shopping for a bed for your newborn. It saves time and money from having to buy a completely separate bed. We didn’t do this with Solomon, and I wish we had. But when he grows out of his bed, we’ll give that to Olivia.
